JANUARY

2 Day Solar Plate Etching Workshop with Francesco Gerronazzo – Booked out and COMPLETED!
Solar plate etching is a method first developed in 1972. Photopolymer Printing Plates (usually steel) are used for either intaglio or relief printing. UV light or sunlight is used to expose the image and tap water to etch the plate, thus eliminating the need to use acids etc. in the classroom or studio. It is extremely safe, low toxic and sustainable. Beautiful tonal effects can be created by first exposing the plate to a dot matrix image. Master Printmaker Francesco Geronazzo from Margaret River Printmaking is presenting a two day workshop at Peel Printmaking in Pinjarra to share his knowledge of this method and techniques that enable you to then add colour to your images.

The Art of Silliness Workshop #1 with Helen Lock
Monthly workshops, on the second Saturday of each month (except for April when it’ll be on the fourth Saturday), to have fun with drawing. Improvement of skills, mood & creativity are just by products!

Kitchen Lithography & Paper Lithography with Monika Lukowsa
Come and learn from scratch or practice further these two great printmaking techniques with expert Dr Monika Lukowska.
Monika is going to run these two workshops on the same day, Sunday 11th February, 2024. Each workshop is 3 hours duration. You can book for both workshops or one workshop. In the booking section there are three ticket options: Kitchen Lithography or Paper Lithography or both workshops. One workshop costs $130. You can attend both for $210. There is a discount code for MAACS members.
Monika will provide all materials. You can bring extra paper if you wish.
Kitchen Litho is done using materials you can find in your kitchen eg aluminium foil and cola.
Paper Litho is done using laser photocopies of your original images or artwork. As an added bonus, Monika is also going to demonstrate different methods of adding colour to the prints.
Both workshops are suitable for beginners or those with previous experience. Monika will also provide all participants with 4 follow-up exercises they can complete at Peel Printmaking, on Fridays 10am-3pm.

Quirky Town Painting Workshop – with Kathryn Stanley-Hart
Kathryn will show you an easy way to create your own original quirky town painting in one day!
Using your favourite colours, you’ll create your 1st rich, textured underlayer using various brush strokes and a palette knife – to create the shapes of buildings and houses before adding details.
You don’t need to know how to paint or draw to create this!
At the end of the day, you’ll have created your original quirky artwork to put on your wall.
